Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about filr pricing.
Yes, for individuals. Your plan is free for 90 days or until your first submission to HMRC, whichever comes first. We take your card at sign-up and charge nothing until then — so if you file in week two, that is when you are billed, because filing is what you came for. We take the payment before the return goes to HMRC, never after. Practices evaluate on the free Pilot band instead, which has no time limit.
Yes, and it is not something you can simply sign up for. An Agent Services Account requires you to be a tax agent business supervised for anti-money-laundering purposes — either by a professional body such as ACCA, ICAEW or CIOT, or under HMRC’s own AML supervision — and registered with HMRC as an agent. On top of that you need a separate agent–client authorisation, held by HMRC, for each individual client: you invite them through HMRC and they accept. All of that lives at HMRC, not with us. filr checks the relationship with HMRC before it will let you file and refuses if HMRC does not confirm it, so the client numbers on these plans are a ceiling on top of that authorisation, never a substitute for it.
Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade at any time from your billing dashboard. When upgrading, you will be charged the prorated difference. When downgrading, the change takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
We accept all major credit and debit cards through Stripe, including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
Absolutely. You can cancel your subscription at any time. You will retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period, then revert to the Free plan.
Yes. All HMRC tokens are encrypted with AES-256 before storage. We use Row Level Security on every database table and connect to HMRC via their official OAuth2 flow.
If you are a sole trader or landlord with annual income over £50,000, you must submit quarterly updates to HMRC digitally from April 2026. filr handles this entire process for you.
